so i lied..

I am still on my blogging rampage..

I really miss my dad during the Holidays...for many reasons.

-He always made amazing meals for the holidays
-He always got UNpractical gifts-you know, the gifts you don't need, you just want.
-His birthday is in December, as well as mine. I miss seeing what we would get for each other.
-My mom takes her annual trip to Africa in December, which is when we spent some one-on-one time. We would play Texas hold em', eat pizza and watch something on the History/National Geographic/Western/boxing or tennis channel. I didn't realize how much I would miss doing those things. ESPECIALLY playing cards. He taught me to be a darn good card player, he never let me win. If I won, it was earned fair and square. I gloated for days when I would win against someone who used to play in tournaments. Every time I saw my dad, we played a game. I haven't played cards since.
We really, REALLY butted heads while I was growing up. I didn't understand his way of thinking. And he certainly didn't understand mine.
After I got married and had Bentley, he became one of my best friends. I could always look to him for advice on ANYTHING and he was always overflowing with compliments for me. I never doubted how proud he was of me or how great of a mother he thought I was or how much he liked my long hair.
-My dad showed me who Frank Sinatra was. Frank was as common in our home as Spiderman is in mine. I know most ALL of his songs and can't help but tear up now when I hear them. Hearing Frank is like seeing my dad beaming with joy that he instilled his love for Sinatra in me.
It wouldn't be the holidays without listening to some old Sinatra classics.
Dad, I love you..till we meet again.
p.s. do you think Sinatra will do a live show for us on the other side?

Oh Megan!

That is so beautiful what you wrote about your dad.

My dad is gone to and I find myself treasuring our memories even more now that I am a parent myself.

What a sweet tribute to your dad. I still have my dad, but my grandpa passed away this month 9 years ago. I miss him more than I can say. But I know he's still keeping tabs on me, just like your dad is on you. We are so lucky to know what we know.

Thanks for sharing, Megan! You should post this often all the time - I won't complain :)

Oh Megan... Break my heart. I'm sorry for your loss. You know... not to make this about me, but it seems that God decides to take home a lot of children around Christmas.. I love that he introduced you to Mr. Sinatra... My little brother said he will meet God, Joseph Smith, and Frank Sinatra when he first gets to Heaven. Something to make you smile. Happy blogging my dear.
