It had been FIVE years since we have all gotten together. It was so fun to catch up with everyone, I hope it becomes a tradition again.

Long time..no see..
In Jr. High and High School, My group of friends would have a Christmas party every year. We would eat till we popped, exchange gifts and goof off like idiots... This year was no different.

My birfday
I turned 24 on December 13th. My birthday was on a Sunday, so we decided to do most the celebrating on Saturday. Dall and I started off with going to see 'New Moon'. His dad was kind enough to come over and watch the boys while we went! What a great grandpa. When we got back, we decided to take advantage of the new snow and go sledding. We all had a blast and decided to end the day with building a snowman. Which turned out pretty fantastic but I think some punk pushed it down in the middle of the night. It most likely was one of our Sunday school kids, so they better watch their backs.

Dallin, thanks for giving me such a great birthday. You never fail to make it special with all your surprizes. :)

Dear blog readers,
Jace has had a rough month; flu, ear infection which I gave him amoxicillin for. On his NINTH day of taking the antibiodic, he broke out in little red dots all over his body which turned into dry red itchy patches covering his poor little body. Yes-allergic to penicillin. He was so miserable, couldn't sleep which meant, we were miserable and couldn't sleep. In an attempt to make him feel more comfortable, I went to the store to find some itch cream and some lotion that would be better for sensitive skin because his skin was so dry that the lotion I normally use was stinging his skin. I went to the baby section at Wal-Mart and saw the Aveeno Baby Lotion for Sensitive Skin and it said something about 'relief' so I grabbed it but then noticed it was nearly $7.00. SEVEN DOLLARS for an 8 oz. bottle of baby lotion. I put it back and went to grab some cortizone cream and some extra Benadryl. At the last minute I decided to grab the lotion so I could apply it in between applying the cortizone cream. I was desperate to try everything, he was crying non stop.
So..We have been doing this routine for about 3 days now. Yesterday, the rash started clearing up but his skin is just unbelievably dry, so I applied more of the Aveeno lotion. and more. and more. TODAY- his skin is even more dry and scaley. Dallin went to put more lotion on him and read the bottle probably thinking, "this stuff is crap" Then I hear, "Megs, this is BODY WASH"
In my defense, it looks and feels like lotion and the Aveeno lotion & body wash bottles look EXACTLY alike. They need to fix that. Johnson & Johnson's lotion and body wash look completely different, so idiots like me don't mistake them.
Anyways, I have been drying out Jace's skin more and more everyday. Lovely, huh? My poor baby cried and cried when Dallin put REAL lotion on him. I bet his skin was just burning so bad. You can bet I was feeling horrible.
Sincerely,
Mother of the Year.

so i lied..
I am still on my blogging rampage..
I really miss my dad during the Holidays...for many reasons.
-He always made amazing meals for the holidays
-He always got UNpractical gifts-you know, the gifts you don't need, you just want.
-His birthday is in December, as well as mine. I miss seeing what we would get for each other.
-My mom takes her annual trip to Africa in December, which is when we spent some one-on-one time. We would play Texas hold em', eat pizza and watch something on the History/National Geographic/Western/boxing or tennis channel. I didn't realize how much I would miss doing those things. ESPECIALLY playing cards. He taught me to be a darn good card player, he never let me win. If I won, it was earned fair and square. I gloated for days when I would win against someone who used to play in tournaments. Every time I saw my dad, we played a game. I haven't played cards since.
We really, REALLY butted heads while I was growing up. I didn't understand his way of thinking. And he certainly didn't understand mine.
After I got married and had Bentley, he became one of my best friends. I could always look to him for advice on ANYTHING and he was always overflowing with compliments for me. I never doubted how proud he was of me or how great of a mother he thought I was or how much he liked my long hair.
-My dad showed me who Frank Sinatra was. Frank was as common in our home as Spiderman is in mine. I know most ALL of his songs and can't help but tear up now when I hear them. Hearing Frank is like seeing my dad beaming with joy that he instilled his love for Sinatra in me.
It wouldn't be the holidays without listening to some old Sinatra classics.
Dad, I love you..till we meet again.
p.s. do you think Sinatra will do a live show for us on the other side?

ashley.
This is my friend, Ashley.
She also recovered my pillows to match!!!! I love her.
She is an amazing seamstress. I was in the mood for a project (I get that way in the winter) So we decided to hit up the D.I and search for a vintage looking chair. I found one that was $30.00 and with my mad bargaining skills the check out guy gave it to me for $15.00. I probably shouldn't be bragging about that-but I was pretty excited. I am so mad I didn't take a before picture-cause it was UgLY.
I painted and sanded the wood and Ashley did all the sewing; and this is what I got.

Jace's Birthday Party
I thought I would try cupcakes instead of a cake. No cutting, no serving. I made gingerbread cupcakes with lemon cream cheese frosting. I thought they were pretty good. I would make them again!
